Jezzail is a micro open world RPG that challenges the notion that solo developers must stick to certain game genres that are considered easier to make. With Jezzail, I reinterpreted the genre to create a unique and engaging experience.
Set in a procedurally generated desert with a trading post, a village, and a bandit camp, players embark on a journey to raid bandit outposts and complete quests in each settlement to collect three keys that summon a boss. The game is won when the boss is defeated. Despite being created in under 60 hours, Jezzail received great feedback from players who compared it to games like Fallout, solidifying its place in the open-world genre.
As I continue to refine the methods used to create Jezzail, I am hoping to reach a point where an open world RPG can be created in the space of a game jam.
